Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon will conclude its Silver Jubilee Concert Season with performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the Music Recital Hall on the Southern Oregon University campus, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland; at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Performing Arts Center, 830 N.E. Ninth St., Grants Pass; and 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford.

Music Director and Conductor Cynthia Hutton will lead the 75-member Youth Symphony in performances of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D Major, or "Titan."

YSSO Youth Orchestra, also directed by Hutton, will perform "Jupiter, Bringer of Jollity" from Gustav Holst's "The Planets," along with selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Phantom of the Opera" and Ralph Ford's "Uptown Hoedown."

Faina Podolnaya will lead Youth Strings in performances of "Theme from Haydn Quartet" by Joseph Haydn, "Ave Maria" by Johann Sebastian Bach, the traditional "Ukranian Carol" and Concerto in G (Allegro) by Antonio Vivaldi.

More than 160 string, brass, woodwind and percussion students from Southern Oregon and Northern California participated in YSSO this season.
