Virginia M. Hall, 97, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013, at her home in Talent, Ore. and went to be with the Lord. For the past several months she was attended on her journey by loving family and caring staff from Interim HealthCare and with thoughtful oversight by Providence Hospice.
Virginia was born October 1, 1915, on a ranch near Loveland, Colo. She married Selden C. Hall in Los Angeles, Calif. in 1935. In 1995, he preceded her in death.
In 1972 Virginia and Selden retired to southern Oregon and then enjoyed traveling and adventures in this country and abroad. They met many new friends and seldom missed an opportunity to entertain them and always had family visiting. She enjoyed many opportunities to be with her seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Virginia's life was filled with raising her boys, supporting a hard working husband, and volunteering to the extreme since she was a small child. As a child she read to a blind neighbor and did household chores for sick neighbors. Later she served in many volunteer capacities including Sunday school teacher, Den Mother, Vista, Red Cross Blood Bank, Shakespeare Festival, Hospital Pink Lady, and reader for school children. She received the Jefferson Award for Public Service for Jackson County in 2008.
Virginia is survived by her sons, James Hall and wife, Midori, of Gilbert, Ariz. and Selden Hall Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Olympia, Wash. and their families.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 660 Frances Lane, Ashland, Ore. with Pastor Tim Cartwright officiating.
