  • William (Bill) Ray King, 76, of Medford, Ore. passed away May 9, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. May 24, 2013 at The First Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Kevin Gowland will be officiating.
    William was born in Myrtle Point, Ore. August 4, 1936 to Ira and Ruby King who preceded him in death.
    He graduated from Umpqua Community College in 1978.
    William was married to Shirley BA (Cooper) December 10, 1955; they were married 57 years.
    William worked as a millworker for Boise Cascade for 17 years. After graduating from college he worked for the City of Medford in the Public Works Department as an Engineering Tech for 19 years. William enjoyed riding motorcycles, building several different dune buggies, and was still riding the dunes at the age of 75. When his children were growing up he loved taking his family camping. He loved traveling in his motor home with his wife Shirley making trips across the U.S. and British Columbia, visiting National Parks and viewing wildlife. He also loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was also actively involved in being the Boy Scout Leader in Fortuna, Calif. as a young man.
    William is survived by his wife, Shirley; brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Jackie King of Coos Bay; daughters, Lisl Meyer and husband, Thomas, of Jacksonville, Billie Fort and husband, Jim, of Kennewick, Wash., and Deborah King of Gold Hill; grandchildren Brandon and Jeffrey Lewis, William and James Fort, Andrew and Ashleigh Soltis; niece and nephew David and Melissa King, Kathi King and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The First Church of the Nazarene Foreign Missions fund.
