Cascade Christian will enter the Class 3A baseball state playoffs on an eight-game winning streak after taking both games of a nonleague doubleheader against Horizon Christian on Saturday at U.S. Cellular Community Park.

In a battle of two of the top six teams in the 3A power rankings, the No. 2-seeded Challengers secured 11-3 and 7-5 wins over the No. 6 Hawks from Tualatin.

Cascade Christian belted out 17 hits in the opener, with Kyle Ferguson going 4-for-5 with one RBI and Isaiah Luzny earning the win on the mound to go with 4-for-4, two-RBI effort at the plate.

Also in Game 1, Luke Dusenbury was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, Cody Coggins was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Tristan Jones 2-for-4 with one RBI.

The Challengers (22-4) broke open the second game against Horizon Christian (21-6) thanks to a six-run first inning that was highlighted by back-to-back RBI doubles with two outs from Josh Brite and Jordan Ragan.

Cooper Clark finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and a triple in Game 2 for Cascade Christian, which will open the 3A playoffs at U.S. Cellular on Wednesday against an opponent to be determined.

PROSPECT 1, GOLD BEACH 0 — At Prospect, junior Alee Pinkerton guided Prospect to its second straight trip to the Class 2A/1A state playoffs with a solid overall performance during the District 4 playoff.

Pinkerton struck out 11 and allowed three hits and one walk to pick up the pitching victory for the Cougars (13-4). She also had both Prospect hits, going 2-for-2, and scored the game's only run in the fifth inning.

Pinkerton led off the fifth with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on a groundout by Hannah Bailey. She scored the only run on another wild pitch by Gold Beach (13-11).

The Cougars will open the state playoffs on Wednesday against an opponent to be determined.
