Police arrest felon who fled from them last week

A wanted felon who led Medford police on a dangerous chase through neighborhoods last week has been arrested.

Abdur Rashid Ali-Woods, 51, was lodged in the Jackson County Jail today on charges of attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another, as well as a parole violation. He is being held there without bail, jail records show.

Medford police said that officers got information that Ali-Woods was in Medford driving a gray Ford truck. An Oregon State Police trooper found the truck and Ali-Woods was taken into custody without incident on charges related to last week's chase.

On May 13, Ali-Woods went on a 20-minute speeding spree through downtown and adjacent west Medford neighborhoods, speeding away from police with zero regard for traffic laws and pedestrian safety, Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said at the time.

Budreau said officers had to back off that chase several times because of safety concerns.
