  • MARION, Ind. — The men's 4x400 relay team set a program record and Danny Parks became Southern Oregon's first All-American of the season Friday afternoon at the NAIA outdoor track and field championships at Indiana Wesleyan.
    Parks gave the Raiders their first points of the meet, picking up four points with a fifth-place performance in the discus. Parks' throw of 165 feet, 9 inches earned the junior All-American honors
    The 4x400 relay team of Nick Perrino, Sullivan Stevens, Zach Boyd-Helm and Jonz Olander broke a 12-year-old school record in the event during the preliminary race to finish eighth and advance to Saturday's final. The team's time of 3:13.64 beat the previous team mark of 3:14.63 by nearly a full second.
    Boyd-Helm had a stellar day all around, as he also finished the 800 prelims in first place with a time of 1:51.78. He will go into Saturday's final race with the best time as the favorite for the event title.
    Brandon Ritchie completed his SOU career two spots out of All-American recognition, posting a career-best 6,092 points in the decathlon.
    Mikayla Garrard finished 11th in the 400 prelims, posting a time of 57.54. Jared Hixon finished 20th in the 5000 with a time of 15:16.58.
    Baseball
    WASHINGTON STATE 10, OREGON STATE 9 — At Corvallis, fourth-ranked Oregon State fell in 11 innings to Washington State in the opening-game of a three-game series.
    A victory by Oregon State would have secured at least a tie for the Pac-12 Conference championship.
    Jason Monda scored from second base on an infield error, snapping a 9-9 tie and giving the Cougars the come-from-behind victory. Oregon State had lead 7-0 after five innings and took a 9-5 lead into the ninth before four runs from WSU. Monda tied the game with a two-run, one-out home run in the ninth.
    Max Engelbrekt took the loss to drop to 3-1 this season for OSU (43-10, 22-6). The Cougars improved to 23-30 overall and 9-19 the Pac-12.
