Talent's Wilcoxson winsUSA cycling crown

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Local professional cyclist Jade Wilcoxson captured her first United States championship Monday, earning the women's road race pro title on the 63.5-mile race.

Wilcoxson, a 35-year-old who lives in Talent, passed Kristin McGrath during the final two miles as the two raced through the last stretch at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. McGrath and Wilcoxson were part of a lead group, but Wilcoxson won comfortably after distancing herself with the late push.

Lauren Hall, Wilcoxson's Optum Pro Cycling teammate, placed second and Alison Powers was third.
