  • CORVALLIS — Dylan Davis' walk-off two-run double led Oregon State to a 5-4 comeback victory over Texas-San Antonio in the Corvallis regional on Friday.
Davis drove a first-pitch fastball from reliever Matt Sims (6-3) to the right-center field fence scoring Tyler Smith and Michael Conforto as the Beavers (46-10) ran out onto the field to celebrate.
"Dylan has really matured as a hitter," Oregon State coach Pat Casey said. "He knows exactly what our approach is in that situation. He knows exactly what he's doing."
Davis said he was happy to reward the crowd at Goss Stadium for sticking it out.
"I'm just proud that they stuck with us through the whole game. They're always there to the last out no matter what. This was one of those cases and I appreciate that," he said. "We feed off their energy. We want to do it for them and do it for us"
The Roadrunners took a 4-3 lead in the eighth when an error by third baseman Kavin Keyes allowed Jesse Baker to score from second base.
After Texas San-Antonio went up 1-0 in the first, Oregon State when Davis scored on Keyes' double-play grounder in the fourth. Mike Warren's RBI single in the sixth gave the Roadrunners back the lead.
The Beavers scored a pair of runs in the bottom half, but R.J. Perucki's single tied it again at 3.
Max Englebrecht (5-1) didn't allow a hit in 12/3 innings for the win.
"We've been good all year at keeping it close and I was just trying to keep them from scoring," he said.
