Los Angeles-based band Bear Attack presents its melodic pop-rock songs at 9 p.m. Friday, June 7, at The Playwright Public House, 258 A St., and at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Grizzly Peak Winery, 1600 E. Nevada St., Ashland.
The band is comprised of guitarist and keyboardist Eric Radloff, guitarist and keyboardist Mia Minichiello, bassist Nick Campbell, electric guitarist Brandon Bae and drummer Logan Shrewsbury, a graduate of Ashland High School.
The members, who hail from all over the United States, met at the University of Southern California, formed the band and, after graduating in May, set out on a West Coast tour to Seattle and back. (Bae graduated last year.)
Their original music, described as "serious" and "mature" by the Los Angeles Times, has been compared to The Swell Season, The Weepies and early Coldplay.
In April 2012, the band released a six-track debut, "Shapes." Three of the songs on the album were later featured on ABC's teen drama/mystery series "Pretty Little Liars." The EP is available for download on iTunes, Spotify and at www.omgbearattack.bandcamp.com.
There is no cover to The Playwright show. Admission to the winery show is $5. See www.facebook.com/omgbearattack for more information.
