    Phoenix's Zanni named Skyline's top pitcher

  • Phoenix senior Meranda Zanni was named Skyline Conference pitcher of the year to highlight a host of honors for the Pirates during the recent all-league meetings by the Skyline's softball and baseball coaches.

  • Phoenix senior Meranda Zanni was named Skyline Conference pitcher of the year to highlight a host of honors for the Pirates during the recent all-league meetings by the Skyline's softball and baseball coaches.
    Zanni posted a 13-5 overall record with two saves and finished with a 2.09 ERA. In 107 innings pitched, Zanni struck out 157 against only 29 walks. A dual-threat player, Zanni also batted .548 for Phoenix.
    Also earning first-team recognition by the softball coaches were Phoenix infielder Amanda Skaff, outfielder Bailee Tally, first baseman Makayla Scoggins and utility player Delanie Tally.
    Henley junior Tara Moates was named player of the year, while North Valley's Charlie Chase was coach of the year.
    In Skyline Conference baseball, Phoenix junior Jordan Pond earned first-team recognition as an outfielder.
    Henley's Jesse Hilyard was named player of the year and Hidden Valley's Tyler Gulbransen was pitcher of the year. Coach of the year honors went to Henley's Tim Cleland.
