  • Providence Community Health Foundation-Medford has received a $587,000 gift from the Frances Bunce estate.
Bunce died on Dec. 9, 1993, when she was 90, at the Three Fountains Nursing Center near Providence Medford Medical Center. Her estate provided the gift to the Providence foundation upon the death of a niece named in her will.
The unrestricted bequest enables the foundation to use the money wherever it is most needed, officials said in a news release.
Bunce's obituary from 1993 said she was born Frances Weisner on Nov. 17, 1903, in Albany. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Portland in 1920. On Oct. 20, 1936, in Reno, Nev., she married Harold Bunce, who died in 1976.
Frances Bunce worked for Fluhrer's Bakery and later retired from Pacific Power & Light Co. as a secretary.
At the time of her death, she was survived by 12 nieces and nephews.
