  • SALEM — Nate Walker blasted his first home run of the season and Carter Glick tossed seven innings in relief to help the Medford Mustangs blank the Portland Moundtime on Saturday at the Willamette Classic.
Glick, who gave up four hits and struck out five, came in for starter Cody Hoff in the second inning. Hoff was removed from the game for precautionary reasons after a line drive ricocheted off the bill of his hat and struck him in the forehead.
Walker gave the Mustangs (4-4) the lead for good in the fourth inning. After Isaiah Luzny reached on an error, Walker ripped a shot deep over the left-field wall for a 2-0 advantage. Micah Brown and Bryce Rogan followed with singles to put runners at the corners, and Brown came home for the final run on a double play.
Walker, Brown, Rogan and David Crofton each went 2-for-4 to lead Medford, which will face the East County Knights today at 9 a.m. in the third-place game.
