Rocky Stone, 77, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at his home in Medford, Ore. He was born September 4, 1935 in Klamath Falls, Ore. to Alton and Edna Stone.
Graduating from Medford High School in 1955, Rocky's name was recognized by football fans across the state. In 1954, he was named Most Valuable Football Player for the Medford High Black Tornado. He was named a National High School All American All-Star in 1954, and was invited to play in the Oregon Shrine All-Star game benefitting Portland's Shriner Hospital for Children.
Rocky spent 15 years in the National Guard and was a long-time member of Teamsters. He had a long career delivering freight throughout Southern Oregon retiring after successfully racking over 2 million miles accident free! He spent 10 years driving shuttle bus at the Dallas-Fort Worth airport.
Rocky is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Marilyn Stone; his two sons, Jeff and Greg Stone; daughter, Kim Clark;, sister, Fran Shaw; and three grandchildren.
The family will greet friends at an open house reception Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Jacksonville Library, Naversen Room, 240 W "C" St., Jacksonville, Ore. Please join us in sharing a favorite memory celebrating Rocky's life.
