Ashland has open house on land-use changes

Ashland's Department of Community Development is holding an open house on changes to land-use ordinances from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Community Center, 59 Winburn Way.

The Planning Commission and Community Development Department have been working on a project to combine the Ashland land-use ordinance and development standards into one user-friendly document with improved wording, formatting and graphics.

Information about the organization of the draft Unified Land Use Ordinance, potential code amendments and next steps in the process will be available at the meeting.

Some of the code amendments being discussed are allowing cottage housing developments in the single-family zone (R-1), allowing buildings in the commercial zone (C-1) to be four stories in height if the buildings are at least 100 feet from a residential zone, and changing the approval process for accessory residential units in the single-family zones.
