  • OREGON CITY — The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office arrested a father and son accused of sexually abusing a child at their home in Canby.
Sgt. Robert Wurpes said Wednesday that 61-year-old Duane Shottenkirk and 35-year-old Earnest Shottenkirk were taken into custody late last week.
Both men were charged with first-degree sex abuse, and the elder Shottenkirk also is accused of distributing child pornography.
Wurpes said the child, who was related to the Shottenkirks, was 6 years old when the alleged abuse occurred in 2011, and investigators are searching for other possible victims.
Clackamas County sheriff's Detective Daniel Smith said Duane Shottenkirk lived in the Medford area and likely had contact with children here during that time.
Jackson County Circuit Court records show that Shottenkirk lived in Medford as far back as 1990.
Smith is looking for anyone in Medford who believes that Shottenkirk might have committed a crime here to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Anyone with useful information about Shottenkirk is asked to call the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office confidential tip line at 503-723-4949, or use an online email form at www.clackamas.us/sheriff/forms/tip.html.
