  • A sixth-inning grand slam by Corvallis' Blake Drake put Wednesday's West Coast League baseball game out of reach for the Medford Rogues, who lost 8-4 in Game 2 of a three-game series at Harry & David Field.
One night after Medford (5-9) got steady pitching en route to a 7-1 win over the Knights, Corvallis (7-7) responded to even the series by belting out 15 hits against five Rogues pitchers in front of a crowd of 1,359. The teams will play the series finale at 6:35 tonight.
Rogues starter Jamie Flynn pitched four complete innings, allowing five hits and three runs with three strikeouts before being removed with the scored tied at 3-all.
Medford reliever Dillon Keene allowed one run on four hits as the Knights took a 4-3 lead in the fifth, then the wheels came off in the sixth when Christian Morrison allowed the bases to be loaded on two hits and a fielder's choice that didn't result in an out. Drake followed with the game-breaking grand slam to end Morrison's night on the mound.
Rogues designated hitter Kevin Davidson went 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while third baseman Parker Miles had two hits and scored one run. Outfielder Quentin Urban recorded three stolen bases and one run.
Medford cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth after a sacrifice fly by shortstop Brody Weiss plated Urban to make it 8-4 but the Rogues were denied any further scoring opportunities the rest of the way.

MEDFORD 12, WILSON 0, 7 inn. — Five Medford players had two hits or more as the Mustangs erupted for 15 hits and took advantage of seven errors by the visitors to move above .500.
Austin Zavala was 3-for-5 with a double and scored three runs, and Colton Westfall, Eric Carlson, Nate Walker and Taylor Raff added two hits apiece for the Mustangs (6-5), who have won four of their last five games.
Left-handed pitcher Isaiah Luzny held the Red Sox at bay with his first complete-game effort of the season. He struck out seven, walked one and held Wilson to six hits to improve to 1-2.
Raff's RBI triple helped the Mustangs tack on three runs in the sixth as Medford finished the scheduled nine-inning game early by the 10-run mercy rule.
