John (Jack) Yovich, 90, passed away June 3, 2013 in Ashland, Ore.
Jack was born in Farrell, Pa. to immigrant parents and was proud of his Serbian heritage. He volunteered for the armed services following D-Day and served in the Army Air Force in Italy and North Africa. Following the war he began a career in education with the aid of the GI Bill. Jack served as a teacher, guidance counselor, administrator, and principal in the Akron, Ohio Public Schools. Jack was an avid reader and enjoyed the natural beauty and cultural events found in Ashland. He was also volunteered at the Elderhostel at SOU.
He is survived by his wife, Norma. He leaves his children, John (Becky) and Diane, along with three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and interment were held in San Bernardino, Calif. The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate care of his caregiver, Erin Hall and physician, Dr. Wendy Schilling, without whom the quality of his last years would not have been so enriched.
