Frances Lorraine (Snyder Wade) Rishell

A loving, vibrant, and charismatic individual who accomplished much, traveled the world, and touched the lives of many, Francie passed away on June 16, 2013, at 2:39 p.m. at the age of 81. She was born in Tucson, Arizona, December 17, 1931, to Fred Snyder, a Certified Public Accountant, and Zelda Shields who passed away at the age of 28 of tuberculosis, when Francie was five years old. Her father remarried. She had three brothers who went on to have prominent careers. Francie graduated from Tucson Senior High School in 1949 as an Honor Student and Graduation Speaker, receiving a scholarship to the University of Arizona where she graduated with a degree in Education. She taught elementary school in Oregon, California, Texas, and the Panama Canal Zone, as well as Sunday School. She also received a Masters degree in Counseling which she used for Hospice, alcohol and drug recovery, Red Cross, and the church. She was an Executive Secretary in Philadelphia for Presbyterian Minsters Fund, and later worked at Rogue Valley Medical Center Rehabilitation as a Medical Transcriptionist. She loved animals, culture, art, music, and dancing, as well as traveling which included Mexico, Central and South America, the Hawaiian Islands, Europe, Canada, and much of the United States. She was deeply involved in community, with a heart for helping others: An Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Medford, Alanon, NAMI, and founded a local macular degeneration support group. She was nicknamed "Joy" at her elder facility.
She is to be buried with her husband, David Rishell, who died May 22, 2005, at Eagle Point National Cemetery; he had served in the Merchant Marines in World War II. Dave was well-known in the Rogue Valley as a Living History Actor in Jacksonville, portraying "Mr. Beekman." He had previously been an Executive for Presbyterian Ministers Fund. He was also an Elder in the local Alcoholics Anonymous community, and an Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Medford. Francie had previously been married to Henry Wade, a Chaplain/Captain in the Army (now retired Lieutenant Colonel) and Group Counselor, the father of her children.
Her children: Christine Wade-Becher, a Social Worker in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Grant Wade, Meteorology (deceased); Paul Wade, an Executive Chef in Vail, Colorado; Selina Delafield, a Writer in Ashland, Oregon. Her siblings: Fred Snyder had been a Captain in the Navy (deceased); Willard Snyder, District Rotary Governor and a School Superintendent; Bob Snyder, a Minister.
A funeral service will take place Sunday, July 7, 2013, 2 p.m. at:

Following the funeral service and reception, a graveside honoring is to be held at Eagle Point National Cemetery. All are welcome to both the funeral service and graveside gathering.
