  • The Central Point motorcyclist killed in a crash at the intersection of Scenic Avenue and Highway 99 has been identified.
William Hammon, 31, who failed to stop at a stop sign at the Central Point intersection, was pronounced dead at the scene, a news release confirmed on Sunday.
According to Oregon State Police, Hammon was traveling at a high rate of speed and collided into the side of a horse trailer when he failed to stop at the stop sign at about 4:50 p.m. on Saturday.
The Yamaha R6 motorcycle crashed into the horse trailer being pulled by a pickup headed south on Highway 99.
Hammon was ejected from the motorcycle and then struck the wheels of a semitrailer being pulled by a commercial truck following the pickup and horse trailer, OSP Sgt. David Beck said in the release.
    Hammon was wearing a helmet.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Jackson County Fire District No. 3 and the Central Point Police Department.
