  • KLAMATH FALLS — Ryan Teel's go-ahead single in the top of the eighth inning put the Medford Rogues baseball team up for good over the Klamath Gems as the Rogues pounded out 19 hits in an offensive barrage that ended 14-10 on Sunday at Kiger Stadium.
Teel drove home Caleb Palensky before the Rogues (9-13) tacked on three more for good measure in the ninth inning.
Kevin Davidson hit a two-run double in the ninth inning and was later brought around to score on a Jerad Casper double.
The Gems were up 6-2 until the Rogues knotted the score at 6-all in the top of a fourth highlighted by a Matt Taylor's two-run home run and Parker Miles' two-run double.
The Gems, however, answered with four more in the bottom of the frame to push their lead back up to 10-6.
Miles struck again with a two-run single in the fifth inning and Casper's two-run home run in the sixth deadlocked the score at 10-all.
Rogues reliever Hector Lujan, who went to the mound in the seventh, picked up the victory, pitching 11/3 innings and striking out two. Justin Jacome earned the save.
Both Taylor and Miles finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Caster went 4-for-6, drove in three and scored while Davidson was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a pair of runs.

SOUTHERN OREGON CLASSIC — Cody Hoff tossed a gem, Taylor Raff was perfect at the plate and Micah Brown was named tournament most valuable player as the Medford Mustangs claimed the Southern Oregon Classic crown with a 12-2 victory over the Red Bluff Bulls at Harry & David Field.
Scheduled for nine innings, the game lasted just seven after the game was called when Red Bluff's coach argued with umpires extensively over balls and strikes in the seventh inning.
The Mustangs also played the Salem Withnell Dodgers to round out tournament play prior to the championship game. The Dodgers won 6-2.
In the championship game, Hoff allowed two runs — one earned — seven hits and one walk and he struck out 10.
Raff went 4-for-4 with two doubles, drove in three runs and scored once. Both Brown and Isaiah Luzny had two hits, two RBIs and scored once.
Brown finished the event 10-for-19 to garner the MVP. Hayden Evans, who pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts on Friday, was dubbed the tournament Cy Young winner.
Against Salem Withnell, Hoff went 3-for-4 with a triple and a run. Raff and Eric Carlson both had a pair of hits.
