The Lord called Herman "Mickey" Knapp home June 27, 2013. Mickey was born December 1, 1924 in Wichita, Kan. to Herman Knapp and Anna May Edwards.
Mickey served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-1952. He married Roberta "Bobbie" Robinson (the love of his life) in 1945. After his military service he spent 34 years as a firefighter in the civil service.
He loved his family, extended family, baseball, and serving his church when he was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ashland, Ore.
Mickey is survived by his daughter, Judy Hanna-Bell (Gene); grandsons, Rob Sommerlot (Netty) and Tom Sommerlot (Deborah); great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Jeremiah Sommerlot and Shasta Hanna; his brothers and sisters, James Knapp, Elizabeth Thompson, Dorothy Carson, and Paul Knapp; his extended family, Bernie and Jana Gunn, and Samiejo McMaster; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie; sisters, Doris Bell and Ayline Poland.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., July 3, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 660 Frances Lane, Ashland, Ore.
Mickey was beloved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. Grandpa, "See you around like a LifeSaver." Daddy every time I go to Crater Lake I know you will be there.
