CENTRAL POINT — Ty Fox delivered a game-winning single as the Central Point Comets rallied for a 4-3 win in the opener of an American Legion A doubleheader sweep of Klamath Falls/Mazama on Monday at Anhorn Field.
The Comets (12-3) needed just five innings to pick up a 16-6 victory in Game 2. The game was called due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Before Fox stepped to the plate, Taylor Tibbets laced a big hit of his own — an RBI triple that tied the game, 3-all.
Fox came up next and delivered his second hit.
Tibbets improved to 3-0 on the mound, allowing four runs — two earned — on eight hits and one walk. He struck out four.
The Comets' Ty Plankenhorn also had a pair of hits with an RBI.
In Game 2, Central Point's Tyler Aplin went 3-for-4, scored three times and added a pair of RBIs. Gunnar Asher also went 3-for-4, chipped in two runs and drove in two while Avery Martin was 2-for-3 and scored twice.
