• Barbecue Dogs With Beer

  • 1 cup beer (anything from pale ale to IPA will do)
    1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 cup commercially prepared or homemade barbecue sauce
    10 hot dogs, quartered
    5 French rolls, split
    Shredded cheddar cheese, for serving
    Chopped yellow or red onion, for serving
    In a saucepan, combine the beer and Worcestershire and barbecue sauces; add the hot dogs. Simmer for 20 minutes.
    Spoon mixture into a wide-mouth, vacuum bottle and take on a picnic or day hike. To serve, spoon a portion of filling into each of the rolls. Each diner adds the cheese and onion to taste.
    Makes 5 servings.
