Rogues pick up nonleague win over Central Oregon

The Medford Rogues scored five runs in the second inning en route to a 7-2 victory over the Central Oregon Bucks in nonleaugue action at Harry & David Field on Wednesday.

The two-game series concludes today at 1:05 p.m.

Infielder Corey Wynant hit a two-run single in the second inning that gave Medford a 6-0 lead. Infielder Matt Page's home run later in the contest put the Rogues ahead 7-1.

Outfielder Spencer Smith finished 2-for-4 with a run for Medford (15-13). Wynant went 1-for-4 with two RBIs and outfielder Danny McNabb and catcher Niko Pacheco each added an RBI.

In his first start of the season, Rogues pitcher John Forsythe went six full innings and allowed five hits, two runs and two walks. He struck out 10.

American Legion A

NORTH MEDFORD 9-5, SOUTH MEDFORD 5-6 — South Medford snapped North Medford's 25-game winning streak in an Area 4 doubleheader at North Medford High.

The previously undefeated Mavericks (25-1, 5-1 Area 4) won the opener, 9-5, before the Colts pulled out a 6-5 victory in eight innings.

In Game 2, South's Tyler Pearson hit the go-ahead RBI single with two outs in the top of the eighth inning.

North's Christian Gillis evened things at 5 in the bottom of the seventh after being walked and later stealing home.

In Game 1, Gillis was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Brett Pearson 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and Jordan Ragan 2-for-4 with an RBI and run.

South's Brandon Lupton went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

CENTRAL POINT 22-12, ROSEBURG PREMIER 4-3 — At Roseburg, Central Point collected 26 hits in a sweep at Legion Field.

In Game 1, Taylor Tibbets went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored for the Comets (16-3). Teammate Avery Martin finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs and Ty Fox 2-for-4 with three RBIs.

Zach Lathrop tossed a four-hitter with four strikeouts in five innings.

In Game 2, Gunnar Asher allowed three hits, one walk and one earned run with seven strikeouts.

Tibbets was 3-for-4 with three runs, Tyler Aplin 2-for-3 and Fox 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
