May 25, 1976 - June 15, 2013
Jennifer Lynn Young Johnson McElroy was born in Portland, Ore. May 25, 1976 to Gary and Charlene (Vikki) Young. She passed away June 15, 2013. Her family moved to Medford, Ore., in 1977 and Jennifer attended schools in Medford, graduating from South Medford High in 1994.
Jennifer worked in the medical field until 1998 when, in Lake Tahoe, she married Paul Johnson; they then moved to Tucson, Ariz. to start their new life. Jennifer continued working in the medical field until her daughter Kaitlynn was born. They soon packed up and moved back to where Jennifer called home. Her son, Jacob, was born in 2003.
After giving up working in the medical field, Jennifer went to work for the Medford Police Dept. This truly was the happiest time of Jennifer's life. In 2001 Jennifer underwent a surgery that later would be the underlying cause of her death. Jennifer and Paul were divorced in 2005.
In October of 2006 Jennifer married Alan McElroy. She loved dolphins, reading and baking. She often would bake cookies for Alan to take to the Olive Garden where Alan works so he could share with his co-workers to enjoy. Baking was her passion. Jennifer and Alan took a couple trips together and ultimately ended up separating and were separated at the time of her death.
Jennifer leaves behind her parents, Gary and Charlene (Vikki) Young; her children, Kaitlynn and Jacob Johnson; sister, Kristen (Ron) Fitch, of Gold Hill, Ore.; nephew, Scottie Young, of Gold Hill; and uncle Kelly (Sherry) Young, of Grants Pass, Ore.
Jennifer died of respiratory failure as a result of pulmonary edema from profound protein malnutrition culminating in ARDS, Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
A pot luck celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., August 11, 2013 at Fitchner-Mainwaring Park, 334 Holmes Ave., Medford, Ore.
