  • Rodney Arthur Witham was the only child of A. Violet Grove Witham and Harland Clay Witham. He was born May 8, 1924 and passed away June 30, 2013.
Rod enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943, serving in World War II. He was a prisoner of war in Germany for a short time. Upon his return to the States, he attended college at Oregon State University. He ultimately left college to join the family business which his parents established in 1923. Under Rod's leadership, Witham Truck Center became one of the largest heavy-duty truck dealerships in Southern Oregon.
In 1947 he married his first wife, Janet Frazier, and they had three sons; Robert, Alan, and John. In 1975 he married Joyce Schneider. They had a wonderful life together and enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, flying, and boating. But Rod's true passion was collecting and restoring historical and classic cars.
Rod was very involved in our local community. He was an Eagle Scout; a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge; a member of the Medford Chamber; member of the Elks Lodge; and a strong supporter of Access, having been awarded their Local Hometown Hero award on numerous occasions.
Rod is survived by his wife, Joyce Witham; sister-in-law, Audrey Parsley; sons, Dr. Robert Witham and Alan Witham; step-children, Jerry Schneider, Gene Schneider, and Marlene Halsey; grandchildren, Peter Witham, PhD, Elizabeth Asche, PhD, Damian Witham, Johnny Witham, Christopher Peterson, Jennifer Plants, Ryan Schneider, and Sara Schneider; and his great-grandson, Clay Witham. His son, John Witham, preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel located at 800 S. Front Street. There will also be a full honors military service, including a 21-gun salute, at 1:00 p.m. at the Eagle Point National Cemetery located at 2763 Riley Road. Donations can be made in Rod's name to Access or Dogs for the Deaf.
