Special Olympics torch run will benefit summer games

About 35 local police officers will be running in a relay this morning in Jackson County for the 2013 Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The local officers will carry a torch as part of a benefit for Special Olympics, starting in the Plaza in Ashland and ending at the Oregon State Police headquarters in Central Point.

This week, more than 800 volunteers from law enforcement and Special Olympics athletes are scheduled to relay the Flame of Hope to the Summer State Games at Newberg High School.

Here are the scheduled times for this morning's relay:

7:30 — The Plaza, Ashland

7:40 — North Main / Grant, Ashland

7:50 — Highway 99 / Jackson Road, Ashland

8:00 — Highway 99 / Wrangles Arena, Talent

8:10 — Highway 99 / Totem Pole Trailer, Talent

8:20 — Highway 99 / SOS Plumbing, Talent

8:30 - Highway 99 / Red Barn Water Station, Talent

8:40 — Highway 99 / Oak Street, Phoenix

8:50 — Highway 99 / Bolz Road, Phoenix

9:00 — Highway 99 / Birch, Phoenix

9:10 — Highway 99 / Bear Creek Corp., Medford

9:20 — Highway 99 / Rogue Federal Drive, Medford

9:30 — Riverside / 12th Street, Medford

9:40 — Riverside / Liberty Street, Medford

9:50 — Highway 99 / Hazel Street, Medford

10:00 — Highway 99 / Dilligafs Bar, Medford

10:10 — Highway 99 / Cupp Drive, Central Point
