Shipley starts in Hops' win

HILLSBORO — Starting for the Hillsboro Hops, former North Medford standout Braden Shipley allowed one hit, one earned run and one walk and struck out four in two innings on Sunday.

The Hops ended up beating the Vancouver 5-4 in a 19-inning game that last six hours, 28 minutes.

Shipley was drafted 15th overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Hillsboro shortstop Ryan Gebhardt had the game-winning foul-ball sacrifice fly behind first base that scored John Leonard in the 19th.
