Michael M. Dombrowsky passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013. He was born to Albert and Elizabeth Dombrowsky in Newton, Kan. September 29, 1931. Shortly after his birth, his mother died from starvation. This was during the Dust Bowl and there was very little food for many people.
Mike was five when his dad moved the family to Stayton, Ore. where Mike spent the rest of his childhood. He started working at the age of 12 in a woolen mill. He graduated from Stayton High School and shortly after married Dorothy Ladd. There were four children born to this union; Dorothy passed away in 1965. Mike married Carol Kroker in 1967 and he adopted Carol's daughter, Lisa.
Mike worked for Wonder Bread as a truck driver for many years driving a daily route of 100 miles a day. In 1971, Mike changed his pace and went to work for Prudential Insurance. After a short time he became District Manager and was moved to Medford, Ore. in 1972. Seeing the need to branch out, Mike opened his own insurance agency in 1978 and Mr. D's Insurance Inc. was formed. Mike retired in 1993 and turned the agency over to his wife, Carol.
Mike liked to travel and now had the chance to travel abroad and down under. He met many good friends on these trips (his favorite place was Hawaii) which he would travel to a couple times a year. Until the very end, Mike was witty and sharp-minded and could argue politics or religion with anyone who would listen. Mike passed away from complications of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Michael is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, David (Move') Dombrowsky and Alan Dombrowsky; daughter, Kathleen Mrowka; brother, Paul (Margaret) Dombrowsky; three grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Dombrowsky; sisters, Rosemary Dombrowsky Doane and Margie Dombrowsky; daughters, Shari Hoots and Lisa Dombrowsky.
There are no funeral services planned. The family will have a private gathering at his son David's home on his birthday in September.
