OYA employees earn kudos

Several Oregon Youth Authority employees based in Medford have been honored for their work for state's juvenile justice agency.

Craig Contreras, field supervisor for Jackson, Josephine, Klamath and Lake counties has worked for OYA since 1998. His duties include communicating with parents, covering cases, transporting youth, attending court and meeting with youth in detention, and he is know for developing trusting, professional relationships, officials honoring him said.

Ron Sandler, juvenile parole and probation assistant for Southern Oregon, has worked at the agency since 1999. Officials said he plays a vital role in transporting youth who abscond back to Oregon under the Interstate Compact on Juveniles, maintaining a positive attitude while flying with at-risk youth in the commercial airline system.
