The historic one-lane truss bridge over Big Butte Creek on Cobleigh Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday for its biannual bridge inspection, according to the Jackson County Roads and Parks Department.
Crews will be using a "snooper truck" — a crane with a swinging arm that can lower inspection crews underneath the bridge — to get a close look at the trusses and deck, leaving no room for vehicles to pass.
The county requests residents to plan their day around the closure, as vehicles wanting to use the bridge will have to wait until the inspection is done.
The snooper truck will then be used to inspect the Antioch Road Bridge over Evans Creek Tuesday afternoon and the Table Rock Road Bridge over the Rogue River Wednesday morning. For those two bridge inspections, one lane will be closed and flaggers will be used to direct traffic around the inspection work.
