  • WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Medford Rogues West Coast League baseball team battled with Wenatchee early, but Andre Real's two-run home run gave the AppleSox enough distance to pull away for a 6-3 victory on Monday.
Real's homer in the bottom of the fourth erased the Rogues' brief lead they earned in the top of the frame on an RBI single by Ryan Teel and an AppleSox error that allowed Matt Taylor to score and put Medford on top, 3-2.
In the fifth, the AppleSox (19-14 WCL) added two more off reliever Jeff Hardy on two walks, a single and a fielder's choice to increase Wenatchee's lead to 6-3.
Teel drove in Parker Miles in the second inning on a fielder's choice to put the Rogue's up, 1-0 but the AppleSox took advantage of three wild pitches by Medford starter Mason Stidham to go up 2-1. Stidham was pinned with the loss and finished with four wild pitches and an error.
Wenatchee starter Davis Engel threw seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits to go with four strikeouts.
Miles and A.J. Balta both went 2-for-4 with a run scored and Teel drove in two runs for the Rogues (14-19 WCL), who finished with a 3-5 record on their road trip. The Rogues begin a six-game homestand at Harry & David Field with a three-game series against Victoria today at 6:35 p.m.

NORTH MEDFORD 4-12, ASHLAND 0-0 — Brett Pearson followed up Colton Westfall's three-hit shutout with a one-hitter as North Medford blanked Ashland in an Area 4 doubleheader sweep at North Medford High.
Pearson improved to 6-0. He allowed Jesse Carroll's third-inning single for the Pilots. The contest went only five innings by virtue of the 10-run mercy rule.
Pearson was backed by nine first-inning runs. Aaron Scott and Josh Berman each hit two-run doubles in the frame and each finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Berman had a pair of doubles.
In the opener, Westfall fanned 12 in seven innings.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, after Pearson scored on an Ashland error and Berman advanced to third on a wild pitch, Berman stole home by sliding between Pilots catcher Vince Cammarota's legs to put the Mavericks (29-9-1, 8-2 Area 4) up 4-0.
Pearson and Berman both finished 2-for-3. Pearson scored twice and Berman drove in a run.
