CENTRAL POINT — The Central Point and South Medford American Legion A baseball teams settled on a split at Anhorn Field on Wednesday.
Cody Coggins stole home to score the game-winning run and the Colts edged the Comets 3-2 in eight innings in the opener. Central Point's Brady Roland owned a no-hitter through five innings and helped guide his squad to a 9-1 victory in Game 2.
In the first game, Coggins got on base with a single, stole third and came home on a South error in the top of the eighth. He finished 2-for-4 with a run.
Winning pitcher Brandon Lupton tossed a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts and seven walks.
Gunnar Asher, who was 2-for-4 for the Comets, struck out five and allowed six hits, two walks and one earned run.
In the nightcap, Eric Wallan broke up Roland's no-hit bid with a triple to lead off the fifth. The pitcher gave up four hits and two walks and fanned five.
Paul Turner went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, Taylor Tibbets 2-for-4 with an RBI and Zach Lathrop 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Central Point (26-8, 11-3 Area 4).
