Danny Stanton of Medford, Ore. passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at home in the loving arms of his family. Danny was born in 1936 to George and Betty Stanton in Woodland, Calif.
Danny met his wife, Connie, in the seventh grade and married her at the tender age of 16. He delighted in celebrating their 60th Anniversary February 14, 2013.
In his youth, Danny was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion in his division. He moved to Watsonville, Calif. where he earned his Associate of Arts degree in electronics from Cabrillo College. He later taught courses there.
In 1958 he worked for Lockheed in the submarine division. He then owned and operated a television sales and service store. Selling the business, he started a career with Allstate Insurance Company, where he was one of the few who earned an honors ring which included eight diamonds. He retired from Allstate in 1993.
Our family has been very blessed as Dad was a loving, gentle, kind, yet incredibly strong-willed and determined man. His children and grandchildren adored him and he was the happiest with the family gathered together.
From the age of seven, Danny was an avid model airplane enthusiast. It truly was a passion in his blood as he continued to fly, design, and build until his illness eight months ago. He was involved in many clubs and after moving to Central Point, Ore. in 1993 he became president for several years of the Rogue Valley Eagles R.C. Club. His shop was really something to envy.
He loved boating and camping which meant good times with the family.
He has four sons and one daughter, the eldest son, Ricky, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Michael, Mark (Carrie), and John (Dawn); daughter, Cindy Ann (his baby girl); 12 grandchildren, including his flying buddy, Carrson; and two great-grandchildren.
Our most sincere thanks and deepest gratitude to Dr. George Bailey, who never let Dad down and truly represented the trust we had in Providence Medford Medical Center; the inspirational radiology team at Providence; the pharmacy team at Walgreen's West Medford store; and Janet Thompson, R.N., who managed his home health team with great knowledge, love, and compassion and the extraordinary sunshine she brought with her visits.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Hope Christian Church, 325 Oak St., Central Point, Ore.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in his name to Rogue Eagles R.C. Club, 2002 S. Stage Rd., Medford, OR 97501. Trees will be planted in his memory at Touvelle State Park.
