    Patton wins top women's class at Al's

  • Gail Patton defeated Lauren Gruber in straight sets to capture the Big Al's Tennis Tournament women's 4.5 singles championship while men's open singles finalists Leo Young and Cesar Uauy teamed up to claim the round robin men's open doubles title Sunday at Hunter Park.

  • Gail Patton defeated Lauren Gruber in straight sets to capture the Big Al's Tennis Tournament women's 4.5 singles championship while men's open singles finalists Leo Young and Cesar Uauy teamed up to claim the round robin men's open doubles title Sunday at Hunter Park.
    Patton beat Gruber, 6-2, 6-4 in the only match of the 4.5 women's singles division.
    Young and Uauy picked up a pair of straight-set victories in the three-team men's open doubles field, including a 6-2, 6-2 win over John Dix and Paul LaMont.
    Skyler Boles downed Robert Molthop, 6-4, 6-3 to claim the men's 4.5 singles title, while Elizabeth Ames beat Victoria Nylund in a thrilling women's 4.0 singles final, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
    In mixed doubles, Kory and Lori Rogers teamed up to claim the open championship with a comeback victory over Debbie Hatch and Shane Johnson, 5-7, 6-3, 6-0.
