The Illies at Paddy Brannan's

Be on the lookout for The Illies' second, full-length album, due out this fall. Songwriter Jared Masters says the forthcoming, not-yet-titled album is being recorded in a private, Grants Pass studio and features soulful R&B beneath the band's signature reggae sounds.

"It's a big deal for us," he says.

In the meantime, The Illies, whose name is short for the Illinois River, will present an original blend of reggae, surf rock, jazz, hip-hop and ska at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at Paddy Brannan's Irish Pub, 23 S. Second St., Ashland. There is no cover charge.

The band also will open for Jamaica's Rootz Underground at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, outdoors at the Applegate Lodge, 15100 Highway 238. Tickets are $15.
