Sharon Yvonne Severson Monk

Sharon Yvonne Severson Monk passed away peacefully at home July 17, 2013; she was born December 19, 1939 in Hollywood, Calif.


She married Ronald Lee Monk in 1958 right after her high school graduation. Ron and Sharon began their married life together in South Carolina where their first daughter, Julee, was born. The young family then moved to Hayward/Fremont, Calif., where their next three children were born and raised.

Sharon and Ron traveled in their motorhome around the western United States and lived in Quartzsite, Ariz. for a couple of years before settling in Jacksonville, Ore. in 2002.

During her illness Sharon was lovingly surrounded by Ron, her children, brothers, family members and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 55-years, Ronald Lee Monk; their four children and their spouses: Julee Ann Johanson, of French Valley, Calif., Barbara Jean Hernandez, of Medford, Sandra Renee Novak, of Medford, and Ronald Lee Monk Jr., of Livermore, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four of her eight brothers: Loyal (Paula) Severson, Page Severson, Jerry (Coty) Severson, and Lorin (Carlene) Severson; as well as an uncountable number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and others of the Severson, Rasmussen, Thornton, and Smith clans.

The memorial service for Sharon will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Calvary Church Jacksonville. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers should be made to Habitat for Humanity.
