Rogues clipped by Knights in ninth

CORVALLIS — The Medford Rogues fell short in a see-saw battle with the Corvallis Knights at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field on Thursday.

After the Rogues rallied by scoring two runs in the top of the eighth to take a 4-3 lead, the Knights came back with two of their own in the bottom of the ninth, stealing a 5-4 victory from Medford.

It was the second straight loss since the all-star break for the Rogues (20-21 West Coast League), who had a six-game winning streak snapped Wednesday. The Rogues will try avoid a sweep by the Knights today at 6:40 p.m. in the final game of the three-game series.

Spencer Smith drove in two runs and had a triple for the Rogues while Ray McIntire, Kevin Davidson and Joe Chavez each collected two hits.
