DEQ readings show Medford's air quality the worst in the region

As of this morning, Medford has the worst air quality in the Pacific Northwest, according to data released this morning from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.

Readings taken this morning at Medford's DEQ station show the air quality index, which measures several pollutants, registered at 249, or "very unhealthy." A reading between 201 and 300 will result in such a reading.

Grants Pass is showing a reading of 171, giving the city an "unhealthy" ranking.

Medford's air quality reading peaked at 308, or "hazardous," Wednesday, giving it the distinction of having had the worst air quality in the country.
