Sheriff's department names man who was shot in Prospect on Monday

A 34-year-old Prospect man shot this week has been released from a local hospital, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, which disclosed the man's name today.

Christopher Larson was shot in the right shoulder by John Davidson, 53, just before 2 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Mill Creek Drive, the sheriff's department said.

Davidson called 911 to report the shooting and Larson drove himself to the Mill Creek Store, where the store clerk rendered first-aid until medical personnel arrived, the sheriff's department reported in a series of news releases. Larson was transported by Mercy Flights Air Ambulance to a Medford hospital, but has since been released.

Davidson has cooperated with investigators, who are also examining forensic evidence collected at the scene.

Detectives ask anyone who was in the Mill Creek Drive area between 1:30 and 2 p.m. on Monday to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Department tip line at 541-774-8333.
