  • Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to stab another man Thursday in White City after the victim entered the suspect's campsite to strike up a casual conversation, a press release said.
    Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 call at Highway 62 and Agate Road after the suspect, identified as William Whipple of Medford, reportedly grabbed a butcher knife and took a swing at the victim for entering his camp.
    The victim was able to flee the scene without any injuries and called 911, police said.
    Deputies searched the camp but were unable to locate Whipple, 39, police said in a press release.
    Whipple is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and 180 pounds with long, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants.
