Ronald B. and Karen E. Gillaspey of Central Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a buffet reception hosted by their daughters in Central Point on July 6, 2013. About 40 people attended the celebration. Following the party, their daughters gave the couple a three-day trip to Gold Beach.
The couple were married July 6, 1963, in Central Point. They have three daughters: Rhonda Kendall of Hemet, Calif., Kathy Keeling of White City and Tawnya Mingus of Central Point; eight grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Ron and Karen were born and raised in the Rogue Valley. Ron is a 1960 graduate from Crater High School, and Karen is a 1964 graduate from Phoenix High School. After he served four years in the Navy, Ron worked at several mills, including Kogap and Medford Corporation until it closed. He then worked for Timber Products until his retirement in December 2006. Karen worked for Pinnacle packing house and as a substitute teacher for Central Point schools.
In their retirement, they enjoy watching their grandchildren, sports, going camping and fishing, and they go to Seven Feathers Casino once or twice a month.
