  • Yvonne Williams passed away peacefully July 19, 2013 at Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Ore.
    She was born in Ashland, Oregon March 26, 1929 to Willard and Elsie Miles. Yvonne attended Ashland Public Schools and graduated from Ashland High in 1946. In 1951 she married Leonard M. Williams in San Francisco, Calif. They had two sons and were later divorced.
    Yvonne worked in the lumber industry providing administrative support and office management expertise to several local companies. She completed her career in the Portland area retiring in 1994 and returned to southern Oregon.
    Yvonne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends in the Rogue Valley, Salem, Portland, and Seattle, Wash. She was an avid backyard bird watcher and fed hummingbirds year-round. She loved cooking and baking and many will remember her adventuresome approach to trying new ideas in the kitchen and always sharing the delicious results of her efforts.
    She read the Mail Tribune and Oregonian newspapers every day, remained informed on politics, and rarely missed an opportunity to watch the Boston Red Sox.
    She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Melissa) Williams, of Ashland, and Martin (Pamela) Williams, of Talent, Ore.; as well, nephew, Bill Miles, of Salem; and niece, Paula Jepson, of Gresham, Ore.
    Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Aubrey Miles; sisters, Letha Horne and Thais Cox.
    At Yvonne's request no services are planned. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
