John Edwin Hendrycks, 89, of Phoenix, Ore. passed away peacefully July 31, 2013 at Ashland Creekside Adult Foster Care. He was born October 20, 1923 in San Bernardino, Calif. to Edwin and Itala (Croce) Hendrycks.
John served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1943-46. He graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a degree in Business Administration. He married Constance (Connie) Mercer, who survives, June 7, 1958. John worked as an accountant at FMC Corporation in San Jose, Calif. before retiring to Oregon in 1986.
John was a devoted husband, father, and faithful member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland, Ore. and a life professed member of the Dominican Laity. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and skiing.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; daughter, Nora; sons, Peter, Paul, and Andrew; grandchildren, Whitney and Russell; and brother, Joseph.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Our Lady of The Mountain Catholic Church, 987 Hillview Dr., Ashland, Ore. Recitation of the Rosary at 11:30 a.m. in the church. Interment of the ashes will follow at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Ashland Council.
