  • Norman and Pauline Mainwaring of Medford celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a party with their family and friends in the shade under the wing of the KC97 airplane in Medford.
Pauline Murphy married Norman Mainwaring on July 25, 1943, in Oakland, Calif. They have three children: Norman Mainwaring of Boston, Susan Barrett of Seattle and Paul Mainwaring of Portland; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pauline grew up in Los Angeles, and Norman served in the Army Air Force. The couple met in Berkeley, Calif., where they later married. The couple then moved to Texas so Norman could complete pilot training. He flew to Africa and Italy among other assignments after combat.
In 1947, they returned to the Bay Area to raise their three children, now nearing retirement. The couple moved to the Rogue Valley in 1972 after also living in Coos Bay.
