Chandler Grant Nickerson was born February 27, 1997. He was raised by Melanie Nickerson and Daniel Banks. In his youngest years, he grew up with his oldest sister, Kristine; older brother, Mitchell; and younger sister, Savanah.
Chandler attended Pearl Creek Elementary School until second grade at which time he moved to Portland, Ore., with his mother and younger sister. He spent eighth grade at Randy Smith Junior High while living with Dan in Fairbanks, Alaska. He returned to Oregon and attended high school in Eagle Point and Cottage Grove. At 15, he moved back to Fairbanks and attended West Valley High School until the present time.
While in Fairbanks, he spent many hours working hard at the family gravel business, on the field practicing with the high school football team, and in the gym fulfilling his passion for wrestling. Any time he had left over, he spent with family. Chandler was accomplished in his academics and was an enthusiastic athlete.
He also was a loving brother, and well known for his charm and charisma. Those who knew him might note his ability to make those around him laugh and the undeniable spark of mischief in his grin.
He passed away tragically on August 5, 2013, leaving behind countless friends and family members who cared deeply for him. He will be greatly missed by family, his football and wrestling teammates, and many friends.
He is survived by mother, Melanie Nickerson, of Cottage Grove, Ore.; fathers, Dan Banks and Charlie Chauss, both of Fairbanks; siblings, Kristine Chauss, Mitchell Chauss, Jasen Chauss, and Dylan Gauthier, of Fairbanks; Savanah Nickerson, of Cottage Grove, Ore.; grandparents, Carolyn and David Chauss, of Fairbanks; and grandparents, Vicki Nickerson, of Talent, Ore., Jim (Butch) Nickerson, of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Bonnie and Mack Banks, of Wisconsin; uncles, Jim (Paula) Nickerson, of White City, Ore., Matthew Banks, of Wisconsin, Craig (Brittney) Chauss, of Fairbanks; aunts, Cheryl Banks, of Wisconsin, Jennie (Dan) Steele, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Eliana Chauss, of Fairbanks; and cousins, Benjamin and Madeleine Steele and Aiden and Ahna Chauss.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Chandler's memory to Savanah Nickerson's college fund, at First National Bank of Alaska and to the West Valley Football Booster Club.
