Charlie and Carole White of Central Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house reception hosted by their children Aug. 10, 2013, at their son's home. About 40 people attended.
They were married July 27, 1963, in Roseburg. They have six children who all live in the Medford area and 13 grandchildren.
Shortly after the two were married, Charlie was drafted into the Army, and they spent the next two years in Fort Lewis, Wash. After an honorable discharge, they moved to Medford, and Charlie began working at Permaneer in White City until 1975, when he started working for Medite in Medford, where he worked for 30 years until retiring in 2005.
Charlie and Carole have been active in their community for many years volunteering in their children's schools, Little League, Camp Fire and more than 20 years as foster parents. Four of their six children are adopted.
For their 50th anniversary, they rode the train from Klamath Falls to Seattle and attended a Mariners baseball game. They still are actively involved with their family and love to travel, and spend most of their winters in Arizona in their RV with friends.
