Neva Lorine Gohde, 94, passed away peacefully in Medford, Ore. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. She was born January 30, 1919 in San Francisco, Calif. to parents John Earl and Alma Lorine Crawford. Most of her childhood days were spent in San Diego, Calif. where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson Jr. High and Herbert Hoover High School. She was an accomplished cellist and played in the San Diego Junior Philharmonic Orchestra during her high school years.

In 1936, Neva's family moved to Fort Vancouver, Wash., and in 1937 they moved to Corvallis, Ore. Neva stayed in Vancouver and graduated from a Vancouver business school. While attending a dance at Oregon State University, she met a member of the performing band, Ralph Gohde. They were married in Vancouver September 1, 1939 and farmed in the Corvallis area until 1955, where their three children, Ann, Michael, and Gail were born.

In 1955, the family moved to North Bend, Ore., where Ralph and Neva lived until 2003. Neva was employed at Georgia Pacific in Coos Bay from 1956 to 1981 as an assistant purchasing agent. They enjoyed gardening, fishing and camping, and were actively involved in jazz and dance bands. After Ralph retired, he returned to playing in jazz groups and Neva enjoyed traveling to jam sessions with him.

Neva is survived by brother, John Earl (Arline) Crawford, of Fredericksburg, Va.; daughter, Ann (David) Fauss, of Roseburg, Ore.; son, Michael (Pat) Gohde, of Eagle Point, Ore.; daughter, Gail Cirac, of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
