Ashland helps prepare for disaster

Ashland Fire & Rescue will hold two classes on emergency preparedness and building an emergency kit on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Ashland Historic Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland.

The "Ashland Is Ready" classes will be from 8 a.m. to noon and again from 1 to 5 p.m. Ashland's hazard assessment, Citizen Alert, seismic risks, fires, floods, weather emergencies, the Community Emergency Response Team and Medical Reserve Corporation will be discussed.

Attendees will build a kit that includes water, first aid materials, food bars, a flashlight, towelettes and a survival blanket.

A $5 registration per person is required, and seating is limited. Call 541-482-2770 to register.
