Vigil honors civil rights work

A vigil to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington and continue work on voting rights and immigration reform will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, in Vogel Plaza in downtown Medford.

Virginia Camberos of Oregon Action will read Martin Luther King Jr.'s Dream speech and share our community's new dream for all people, organizers said.

The vigil will encourage people to take a moment to contemplate the meaning of King's speech and the March on Washington and see how that work continues.
